My Turn: How to organize higher education in Alaska

I think any publicly funded university is based on the axiomatic belief that knowledge in itself is good, that we should have an educated citizenry that will be able to develop its abilities to the fullest and that as such, education should be seen as a public good paid out of tax dollars. The rest of this column is premised on the assumption that education is a public good and the financing of higher education should be designed with this in mind.
