Mu Turn: Juneau: Alaska's most homeless city

Most Juneauites are shocked by the fact that our town has the highest percentage of homeless households of any city in Alaska. Yes, more than Anchorage. Yes, more than Fairbanks. About 1.3 percent of Juneau households meet the stringent U.S. Housing and Urban Development definition of "homeless". That is almost 400 households, most with children. And the percentage grows year after year.

CCS planning construction of new adult day facility in Juneau

Family of senior citizens needing assistance and a safe place to spend their day can have peace of mind and time for themselves, thanks to Juneau's adult day program called "The Bridge." According to Gail Perez, program supervisor, "The Bridge" is comitted to helping senior citizens remain at home for as long as possible and keeping their family caregivers healthy.
