Crimson Bear soccer teams prepare for Kayhi

The Juneau-Douglas High School boys soccer team got back on track last weekend, winning three games a week after suffering their only loss of the season. The weekend was capped by a 3-1 victory over the previously undefeated Service Cougars on Saturday in a game between what many soccer fans consider the top two teams in the state.
Juneau boys open defense of state soccer title

When the Juneau-Douglas High School boys soccer team went to the state tournament last year, the Crimson Bears were a team trying to earn a little respect. When the Crimson Bears arrive here to defend their state championship this weekend, Juneau will be the team the other schools are watching. Not only will Juneau be the defending state champion, but the Crimson Bears have earned national rankings in two different polls this season.
Dimond gets revenge on Juneau

WASILLA -- Eric Donaldson said he was in the right place at the right time, but not for the Juneau-Douglas High School boys soccer team. Donaldson, who plays for the Dimond Lynx, lined up for a cornerkick in a different spot than normal. That was all he needed to score the game's only goal as the Lynx upset the defending champion and nationally ranked Crimson Bears 1-0 in the state soccer tournament's title game Saturday night at Wasilla High School.
Juneau soccer keeps national ranking

Even though it lost the state championship game to the Dimond Lynx, 1-0 on May 25, the Juneau-Douglas High School boys soccer team didn't fall out of the national rankings. Instead, the Lynx, who hadn't been ranked all season, joined the Crimson Bears in the final Student Sports Boys Spring Soccer Fab 50 poll of the year.

JDHS girls finish 2-1 on opening road trip

The Juneau-Douglas girls' soccer team returned earlier this week from its annual California trip, and coach Matt Dusenberry said things went well - aside from arriving in Sacramento a mere two hours before the first whistle. But the late arrival didn't seem to affect the Crimson Bears too much. Juneau-Douglas shut out Vacaville 2-0 in the first game of the trip and for it being just the second time the girls had played outside this year, Dusenberry said he's happy with the result.
