When Katie Jensen and Aaron Elmore were growing up, they wanted the same thing. They wanted to be forest rangers. They didn't plan on being Hamlet and Joan of Arc. They never dreamed they'd form a husband-and-wife theater company, produce Shakespeare and build a reputation as a powerhouse team of consummate theater artists with Theatre in the Rough.

Puppet theater has had a very long, distinguished history in many cultures around the world - Japan, Indonesia, and India to name a few - but in modern American culture, the genre is often associated with children's entertainment (Elmo et al).
Director Aaron Elmore sprang a surprise on the cast of "The Merry Wives of Windsor" after rehearsals began. Not only would each actor play two parts, the second role would require bringing a four-foot-high puppet to life.
