A need for remedy and apology

Aging ammunition bunkers at Sitka's airport and nearby U.S. Coast Guard property don't reveal much to the casual visitor. The children died of tuberculosis there, and their bodies were put in wooden caskets and stacked inside the cement bunkers. These Aleut, Eskimo and Indians - about 138 of them in all - never received a proper burial.
