A group of Fairbanks business leaders, students and university officials is considering a recommendation to make it harder to gain admission into a baccalaureate program at the University of Alaska Fairbanks.
The Juneau School District is encouraging students to report racial incidents, and student leaders at Juneau-Douglas High School are speaking out against racism in the wake of recent anti-Native incidents at the school.
FAIRBANKS - Tuition at the University of Alaska would increase by up to $38 a credit hour under a proposal from university administrators. The plan, to be introduced to the university Board of Regents at its meeting this week, proposes increasing undergraduate and graduate tuition 10 percent during the 2003-2004 school year and another 10 percent the following year.
