A single-engine plane, carrying six people and flying "on borrowed time" due to a spraying oil leak that covered the windshield, was guided to an emergency landing on a Kupreanof Island beach by a Coast Guard helicopter crew Tuesday afternoon. The pilot of the L.A.B. Flying Service plane and four of his five passengers, who were flying from Kake to Petersburg, suffered minor injuries. The Coast Guard flew them to Juneau where they were treated at Bartlett Regional Hospital and released in good condition Tuesday evening.

Flying Service of Haines, that killed one Canadian and four German tourists as well as the pilot.
