Invasive weeds are known as being, well, invasive and choking the life out of plants that actually belong in an area. This is a problem in many places, including Eagle Beach where a weed pull has been organized from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday.
Large white wings often fly low over Gastineau Channel in the summertime, providing propulsion for the Juneau Youth Sailing's fleet of Club 420s, small racing sailboats just under 14 feet long. This summer JYS has started evening races once a week starting at 5 p.m. with the first whistle at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesdays.
