The "Comedy for a Cause" fundraiser for NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) Juneau was a great success! NAMI Juneau raised a significant amount for the new Training and Leadership Fund that enables the organization to train volunteer peer teachers and facilitators for NAMI courses and support groups as well as to send NAMI Juneau members to the annual national NAMI convention.There are many to thank! Weekend healthcare event to focus on veterans

The Alaska Veterans Affairs Healthcare System will be hosting an event in Juneau to help provide healthcare and other services to the veterans of Southeast Alaska.The event, called "Southeast Alaska Stand Down Outreach," will be held at Centennial Hall from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, Sept. 7, with an opening ceremony at 10 a.m. It will continue Saturday, Sept. 8, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Lunch will be provided both days.
