Holst's retirement unlikely to be quiet

It takes only a few moments in Janice Holst's presence to get a sense of the energy that has carried her through more than 50 years of teaching dance.

In his poem "Immortal Autumn," Archibald Machlesh wrote, "I praise the fall / it is the human season." This phrase seems particularly apt when applied to the creative activity that takes place in Juneau around this time of year.
What's in store for fall

Fine art, found art, foreign films and jazz harp are part of the entertainment line-up this fall in the capital city. Visiting authors will read and talk about their work, dance instructors will teach the Tango and dozens of concerts and art exhibits are in store in the coming months.
'The Grumpsicle meets Julius Caesar'

Fancy prancy reindeer, a stupid Cupid and an unlucky leprechaun help Santa foil the Grumpsicle this year. "The Grumpsicle Meets Julius Caesar" is this year's installment of the annual holiday pageant by the Janice Holst School of Dance. Performances will be at 1 and 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 21, at Centennial Hall.
