Margaret Thomas, a 1998 graduate of Juneau-Douglas High School, has been named to the Dean's List for the fall quarter of 1999 at the University of Washington in Seattle. She is a sophomore at the college.

Justin Santos recently joined the Navy's Delayed Entry Program for guaranteed training in the Aviation Machinist's Mate Program. Santos will report for active duty in March, attending basic training at Recruit Training Center, Great Lakes, Ill. Daniel James Fagnant and Andrea L.

Capt. Tom Meismer has stepped down as the Civil Air Patrol's Southeast Composite Squadron Commander. Meismer, an employee of the Federal Aviation Administration, held the position for three years.

The William Randolph Hearst Foundation has awarded a $50,000 endowment gift to Perseverance Theatre to support the theater's education and training programs.

Air Force Airman Adam L. Schubert, son of Gary G. Schubert of Haines, has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas.
