Pioneers dealt with disasters as Southeast grew

While researching and writing the previous articles it came to my attention that, every so often I would come across some serious accident and/or disaster that had befallen our Alaskan pioneers. It seemed like a good subject for an article until I realized that a review of disasters statewide might be a bit too lengthy. So, I cut it back to just Southeast Alaska but even that was a bit much. Finally, I decided to just look at disasters that were in southeast during the early territorial years.
