UA Board of Regents to consider 5 percent tuition hike

ANCHORAGE - Tuition could be on the rise at the University of Alaska.KTVA reported regents on Friday will consider raising student tuition by 5 percent. For undergraduates, the increase could be up to $11 per credit hour. For graduate students, that jumps to a $22 per credit hour. The decision will come as regents meet at the Anchorage campus.University President Pat Gamble says he recommended the tuition increase because state funding is expected to decrease as oil prices plunge and the state faces a multibillion dollar deficit.
