She was born Sept. 3, 1912, in Tacoma, Wash., to Jacob and Ragna Jackson and moved to Juneau with her family in 1914. She attended local schools and graduated from Juneau High School in 1931. She worked for the Federal government, retiring from the Veterans Administration in 1970.
