LOS ANGELES (AP) - It's no secret to people who walk or drive the streets of Los Angeles that homeless people - tens of thousands of them - are everywhere.
Most people wouldn't know a homeless person if they walked past him, says a Juneau advocate for the homeless.
ANCHORAGE - On a recent Tuesday night, Anchorage police sergeant Dennis Allen came upon a familiar face at a bus stop. It was Paul, one of Anchorage's 400 or so homeless alcoholics who chronically get drunk in public.
Joan Decker's resignation this month from the director's position at the Glory Hole reminds us of the day-in, day-out hard work that some people put in to make Juneau a better place for all of us.
