On behalf of Katrina ``Kat'' Winchell, her family would like to thank the sensitive and caring people at the Life Alaska Foundation after Kat's death, along with Matt Brakel, in an avalanche on April 27. We requested that her tissue, heart valves, corneas, bone and bone marrow be donated.
Among the deaths in vehicles in 1996, 9,151 occupants were under 15 years of age, and over half of them unrestrained. Of those restrained in child safety seats, over 80 percent were installed incorrectly or misused. Is this acceptable to us as parents?
The Thunder Mountain softball team has endured some difficult games of late, but Jeslie Villaverde made sure Saturday was a night to remember. The junior catcher launched a two-run home run in the bottom of the fourth just inside the left-field foul pole to give the Falcons a five-run lead on their way to a 6-3 win over defending small schools state champion Sitka at Melvin Park . It was the second win in the program's short history.

Next month, on Friday, July 2, the JDHS Class of 2000's 10-year reunion will commence at 5 p.m. atop the Mt. Roberts Tramway in downtown Juneau. Attendees may remember Dave Conway, a musician and member of the class who will be performing at the event. There are also rumors that the infamous Collette Costa may make an appearance. The party will go from 5 until 9 p.m. at the tram, and then will resume downtown at the Imperial Saloon where the classmates will end the night with drinks and old school jams.
